First Gadget [Action/Video]

[Well, he never expected this to happen. One night, just patrolling the town on his own without his brother and he ended actually ended up not making the jump. Who knew jumping between 5 story buildings could possibly result in falling?

...Okay, yeah he knew how gravity worked like that but he didn't think the ground would disappear underneath him.

So, here he is, falling from the sky in utter shock. Thankfully the fall is just as high as the building was...but that's still not a comforting thought when you could break both your legs. Cross goes to reach for his utility belt to get something out of it when he realizes that it's not there. Great, perfect.

But, he had his mechanical right arm and that's all he needed. Twisting the cuff on it in a 360 turn, a hole opens in his palm which reveals a grappling hook. Pointing it towards a tree, he presses a button on the back of the hand and it launches out. As the hook tightens and locks onto the tree, Cross grabs cable that comes out from his as he swings around the tree.

As he comes towards the ground, he unhooks the grapple and tumbles across the ground safely, his journal falling open in the process and turning the video function on.]

Owwww...okay, really didn't need that strain on my arm falling from that height.

[Pushing himself up as he rotates his right arm to relieve it of it's pain, he looks around slowly unsure of his surroundings.]

Okaaaaaaaaay...definitely doesn't look like home.

[But he looks down, suddenly realizing he's not wearing his clothes.]

What the-?! Hey, what's the big idea?! Where's my stuff!?

[Taking another look around he see's a village nearby. Okay, weird. Definitely weird. Like weirder then when Uncle Kyle got himself stuck in that mirror. Well, there was only one way to find out what was going on. Gathering intel from that village.]

[Have a mystery journal voice! It's growly and grumpy, if still a little concerned given it sounds like the person hurt their arm.]

Well, other than being in these pants I don't remember getting into I'm fine.

[But, Cross takes a moment to process this before he realizes...there was no one else around.]

[He takes a moment to look when he see's the book fallen open on the ground. Bending down, he picks it up. The Admiral will now see a very excited looking boy staring at this journal. It looked just like a normal book but there was a video inside.]

WHOAAAAA! I'VE NEVER SEEN SOMETHING LIKE THIS BEFORE! Who did this? How's it supposed to work? Oh gosh, I gotta take this apart sometime!

[But, the boy just realizes the older man introduced himself.]

O-oh! Sorry, it's nice to meet you, Mr.Smoker. My name's Cross Blanchard.

[Small sigh. He always meets the loud ones. And he waves reluctantly.]

[There's a definite pause as he looks down at it.]

Yeah, magic works in this world. Something about filial spirits and the wings or whatever.

You can ask around at the school to learn more about it.

Oh, I know about magic and stuff. I got it in my world too. I just can't use it.

Well, you might be able to here. Pretty much anyone can use the spirt magic here.

Right. And yes. New Feathers are people new to this world, like yourself. A new feather cycle happens about every other month.

It's a whole world away, the wings on your back are part of your life force so be careful with them.

[It takes a moment to actually take it in. He wasn't at home...away from his brother and not helping keep people safe in his city. He'd been kidnapped by who knows whoever and however he was brought here was a complete mystery.

It's a bit depressing But, again this was a place no one knew him. Even more depressing.

Guess all he could do was make a name for himself and try and stand out a bit. So, he puts on a happy face and tries to remain optimistic.]

Nah, it's fine. Just means I can try and help get everyone home. Besides heroes gotta help people in need and the more help you get the better, right?

[Honestly, he only half cares about going home. It's just not on his high to do list.]

In the meantime you might also want to look at what else you can do while you're here. In case getting everyone home turns out to be harder than you realized.

[Which is the nicest way Smoker can say that it hasn't happened in five years, when others have tried, so he doesn't have high expectations it'll happen soon.]

[Too busy with school and trying to be a crime fighter.]

No, there's no money here, so anything you do is just as a hobby. It's just easy to get bored.

A hobby? Oh, I'm fine with that than. I don't really like getting paid to help people anyways.

[Well, Cross will have to do something about that. But, he'll take Smoker on that offer.]

Actually, yeah. I'm kind of half naked and I'm missing a bunch of my stuff. Do you know where I can find it? It's important.

[After all, he can't have people finding his armor and utility belt.]

If none of the stuff was nearby when you woke up, it's probably in one of the shops in town. Head to the fountain and they're all centered around that. Weapons are in the blacksmith shop.

You guys need weapons here?

Usually the weapons are things people had them before they came here. But, yes, it's advisable to defend yourself. Not everyone here is peaceful and there are drafts every other month to fight cultists outside the barrier.

If you don't know any forms of self-defense I teach lessons for that and jitte down by the barracks, if you're interested.

Cultists? Guess that's some of the bad guys you people fight here.

[He'll have to read more about it when he can.

They....drafted a cat? How does that even work? And why would they be making people who couldn't fight go anyways?

Well, it was on a ship battle, so maybe they meant her to keep it free of rats? I have no idea.

And because they're disorganized idiots. Or they just don't care.

I guess that makes sense. In the weirdest of ways.

That's not right. If they're going to force us to go on dangerous stuff they can at least let those who can fight go.

You would think. Feel free to try to take it up with them. If they'll actually listen.
